Election Preview: Crowded Slate for SK Town Offices

The five South Kingstown Town Council and four South Kingstown School Committee seats have multiple challengers for the November elections.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The Town Council is guaranteed at least 40 percent turnover following the November elections, as two incumbents are not running for re-election.

Kathleen Fogarty is running for a seat in Rhode Island House District 35, opening up her seat on the council. Mary “Polly” Eddy is also not running for re-election.

As a result, there is a wide open field of 10 candidates for five seats. Incumbents Carol Hagan McEntee, James W. O’Neill and Ella M. Whaley are running for re-election.

Open Field for School Committee As Well

On the schools side, seven candidates have filed for four open seats, with Elizabeth Morris and Stephen Scott Mueller the only incumbents. Anthony Mega and Rick Angelia are not seeking re-election.

Holdovers on the school committee are Maureen Cotter, Kevin Jackson and Raissa Mosher.
