Forecast Fizzled But How Much Snow Did Your Town Get?

NARRAGANSETT, RI—So, the forecast was wrong as far as the snowfall amount and the timing.

Several forecasters tried to explain what happened to the snow. It was a victim of dry air, some said. Plus, the storm stayed farther South than anyone anticipated and ultimately stayed offshore.

Bottom line: winter ran out of winter weather.

This storm gave people plenty of reasons to rant. Not to mention second-guessing the schools superintendents' decision to cancel classes Wednesday and the governor's decision to close state government. Nonetheless, it did snow. Eventually.
