John M. "Johnny" Reposa, Jr., 43, a Narragansett resident for more than eight years, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013. Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of John and Delores (Pinto) Reposa of Jamestown and the beloved brother of Lorana and her husband, Anthony DeMedeiros of Jamestown.Â
John attended the Jamestown school system and graduated from Bishop Hendricken HS in 1989. He was a graduate of the Gunnery Prep School in CT and attended Roger Williams University until he was accepted on the Providence Police Dept. in 1994, graduating as a member of the 54th training academy.
John was an excellent athlete and excelled in soccer, track and hockey. As a child, he played for the Providence Youth Hockey League and the Edgewood Hockey League. During his time at Bishop Hendricken, he was the captain for both the hockey and soccer teams. John was also a member of the Gunnery Prep School Division 3 Championship Team of 1990.

He was a member of the Providence Police Department’s Pipe and Drum Band, FOP Lodge #3, Field Training Officer and an Assistant Specialty Instructor for the Providence Police Academy.
John was also a member of the Narcotics Division, Motorcycle Unit, Shotgun Team, Traffic Bureau and the Uniform Patrol Division.

John received numerous departmental Awards and Commendations during his 20 year career. As a special note, Patrolman Reposa was a two time recipient of the Archibald Award for Excellence in Police Service during his career with the Providence Police Department.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday in St. Mark’s Church, 60 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, followed by a burial in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Jamestown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society of RI, P.O. Box 16603 Rumford, RI 02916.Â
