Local Man Shoots and Buries Ex-Wife's Dog, Police Say

Police arrested the 64-year-old South Kingstown investigation after an investigation that lasted more than a month.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I.—A 64-year-old local man was arrested for shooting dead his ex-wife’s dog and burying it the backyard, police said.

South Kingstown police said in a news release that Fredrick Sisson, of 35 John St., was charged with domestic killing of an animal and firing in a compact area.

Police said Sisson was watching the 5-year-old Pitbull when it bit him on Nov. 14.

Sisson, angered, allegedly trapped the dog under a porch and shot it in the head with a 12-gauge shotgun.

The dog was killed by the gunshot and Sisson buried the dog in the backyard, police said.

Police investigated the case for more than a month. The investigation included an autopsy performed by the University of Connecticut.

Sisson was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Thursday and released on personal recognizance. He is due to return to court on Feb. 23.

A no-contact order was also issued.
