According to police, a dispatcher received a call from a driver on Ocean Road near the Towers. The driver told police they were behind a silver Mazda that was swerving, and they thought the driver could be drunk. The driver later provided a witness statement to police, and said that the Mazda almost struck a telephone pole while traveling between 10 and 15 miles per hour.

Police said an officer was in that area at the time, near Turtle Soup. The officer found the Mazda on Ocean Road, followed it, and noted that it was swerving while on South Pier Road. Police said the car also almost hit a mailbox on Gibson Avenue.

As a result, a traffic stop was made at the intersection of Gibson Avenue and Miss Kane Lane. Police said that the driver – Cesino – smelled of alcohol, and he apologized for not wearing a shirt, saying that he was coming from a pool party.

According to police, Cesino consented to field sobriety tests, which he failed. Police noted that during the one-leg stand, Cesino lost track of numbers while counting and put his foot down, and when asked to pick his foot back up, he allegedly told police, “I could do this all night.”

Following the tests, Cesino was arrested and charged with drunken driving. An inventory of his car revealed a water bottle with a yellow liquid inside, which police said tested positive for alcohol at headquarters.

According to police, Cesino submitted to chemical tests at headquarters. Police said the first test was invalid, the second test revealed a blood-alcohol level of .219 and the third revealed a level of .223. He told police that he had had four beers and two shots that night.

Cesino was processed and then released at about 4:10 a.m.

Narragansett Man Charged with Possession of Marijuana

Tyler A. Casey, 20, of 12 Linden Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 3:50 a.m. on July 12 and charged with possession of marijuana.

According to police, they received a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident on Old Boston Neck Road near Secluded Drive.

Police said when they arrived on scene, they saw a car on the side of the road – it appeared that it drifted off the roadway, causing the accident. Police noted that Casey and a 16-year-old Narragansett girl walked out of the woods when they arrived.

Police said that while getting Casey’s information, an officer searching the woods near the car found a black backpack and a black zip-up bag. Police noted that the bags contained a mason jar of marijuana and plastic baggies.

When asked about the items, police said that Casey told them they were his. Police also noted that the car smelled of marijuana, and an inventory of the car revealed a scale, a smoking pipe and a package of three blunts.

Police said Casey passed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. He was also cited for laned roadway violations.

The girl was transported to police headquarters and picked up by her mother. Casey was processed and then released at about 5:10 a.m.
