Narragansett Police Log: July 17, 2012
Police supervise while C-4 is detonated, and a DCYF worker is cited for an alleged suspended license.

Kaboom! – Property on Boston Neck Road Cleared of Bomb Threat with C-4
According to police, they assisted in maintaining order during a potential bomb disposal on Boston Neck Road shortly after 6 p.m. on July 17.

Police said the new owner of 934 Boston Neck Road called the Narragansett Fire Department, the State Fire Marshal and a bomb squad after finding a suspicious object in a dumpster.
According to police, the fire marshal was unable to identify the object, but a field test determined that it might be dangerous and contain explosive material.

As a result, the object – which was in a box – was buried with C-4. The explosives were then detonated.
Police said that at the time of the detonation, traffic was stopped in each direction. Following the explosion, the fire department assisted the bomb squad with clean-up.
DCYF Worker Cited for Suspended License
Crystal M. Johnson, 31, of 20 Bassett St., Pawtucket, was cited at about 11:44 a.m. on July 17 and charged with driving with suspended license. Police said Johnson is a caseworker with DCYF.
According to police, an officer monitoring traffic on Burnside Avenue near Defelice Road clocked a brown Toyota at 40 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. As a result, a traffic stop was made on Ocean Road near Burnside Avenue.
Police said that the driver – Johnson – did not have her license with her. A background check revealed that her license had been suspended on June 20 for failing to appear at a court hearing on June 20.
As a result, Johnson was cited for driving with a suspended license. She was also cited for speeding. A passenger in the car with a valid license drove it from the scene.
Exit on Fire Alarm Leads to Fighting at George’s
Police said two men were cited for fighting at George’s of Galiee at about 12:44 a.m. on July 17. The men were identified as:
- Michael A. Guadagno, 19, of 5 Birchwood Drive, Narragansett
- Joseph A. Blainey, 22, of 40 Overlook Road, Narragansett
According to police, at about 12:30 a.m. they responded to George’s because of a box alarm going off.
Police said that while the 400 people at George’s were exiting the building, they noticed that Guadagno and Blainey were shoving one another. This escalated into the two wrestling with one another.
According to police, they separated the two and arrested them. Both charges were later downgraded from disorderly conduct to just a municipal court citation for fighting.
