Narragansett Police Log: July 2, 2012

Police make several license-related arrests, including one related to a past DWI arrest.

Wakefield Man With Two Past Drinking Arrests Charged with Driving With Suspended License

Barry G. Klapp, 49, of 710 Gravelly Hill Road, Wakefield, was arrested at about 4:55 p.m. on July 2 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer traveling on Galilee Escape Road at the intersection of Point Judith Road ran the plate of a silver Saab in front of him. The vehicle registration came back as suspended for failure to pay, so a traffic stop was made on Point Judith Road near Sunset Boulevard.

Police said that when they asked the driver – Klapp – for his license, he told them that it had been suspended because of a DWI arrest.

According to police, a background check confirmed the DWI on June 22, along with a refusal to submit to a chemical test citation on May 1.

Klapp was arrested, and then processed and released from headquarters at 6 p.m. Klapp was also cited for driving a car without proper registration. The car was towed, and the plates were confiscated from the vehicle.

North Scituate Woman Charged with Driving With A Suspended License

Alexandria M. Souza, 22, of 172 Danielson Pike, North Scituate, was arrested at about 7:40 p.m. on July 2 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer was driving on Boston Neck Road when he observed the car in front of him with a dark tint license plate cover, and tailgating another car. A traffic stop was made north of the Sprague Bridge.

Police said the driver – Souza – provided them with an expired insurance card. A background check also revealed that her license was suspended in November 2011.

As a result, Souza was arrested, and then processed and released from headquarters at about 8:20 p.m. She was also cited for tailgating, no proof of insurance and improper display of plates. The car was towed from the scene.

Narragansett Man Charged with Driving With A Suspended License

Joseph J. Vallese, 27, of 54 Palm Beach Ave., Narragansett, was arrested at about 9:03 p.m. on July 2 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, they received a report of a motor vehicle accident in the Schwabby’s parking lot. Police said that based on an examination of the scene and interviews with both drivers, Vallese backed his car into another car.

Police said there were no injuries, and the damage to both cars was light. However, background checks of the drivers revealed that Vallese’s license was suspended on June 15 for failing to complete driver’s retraining.

Vallese was arrested without incident, and then processed and released from headquarters at about 9:50 p.m. A family member drove his car from the parking lot.
