Gansett Police Log - A West Warwick man is held without bail for repeated threats and messages to an ex.

West Warwick Man Charged With Felony For Repeated Unwanted Texts to Ex
Timothy Thurber, 38, of 1098 Main St., West Warwick, was arrested at about 11 a.m. on June 26 and charged with two counts of violating a no-contact order. The charge was elevated to a felony because of past offenses.

According to police, on May 13 they received a complaint from an ex-girlfriend of Thurber. The woman, who had a no-contact order with Thurber, showed police multiple text messages from her.
Police said the messages began at 1:41 a.m. one night, and Thurber messaged the victim 23 times. Police noted that one message read, “Jail… Big deal…”, and many others called the victim a pig or skank.

Based on the text messages, a warrant was issued for Thurber’s arrest. Police said they were able to contact him that day, but he allegedly told them that he was “one step ahead of the police.”
According to police, the victim provided them with multiple possible addresses for Thurber, but he was not at any of these homes.
Police said that on May 20, the victim again responded to police headquarters, since Thurber had sent her more messages. Police noted that since their last contact with Thurber, he had sent the victim more than 20 text messages, such as:
- And if anyone goes to the cops, I’ll charge you both!! I Saved the texts frim hin and you!! Thanks for leaving me in the dark and ****ing lying to me.
- The cops are out?? What does that mean?? Don’t ignore me please!!
- All I care about id you’re safety
- WFT CANT YOU ****IN RESPECT ME
Police said another search of Thurber’s possible homes was conducted, and he again wasn’t found.
However, on June 26 another department found Thurber, arrested him, and transported him to Fourth Division District Court. He was held without bail because of several bail violations from previous charges.
Johnston Man Cited for Suspended License
Harold T. Schofield, 43, of 5 Azalea Court, Johnston, was cited at about 10:02 a.m. on June 27 and charged with driving with a suspended license.
According to police, they responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Point Judith Road near South Pier Road.
A background check of one of the drivers – Schofield – revealed that his license was suspended on May 17 for failing to appear at a court hearing. The car’s registration was also suspended.
Schofield was cited for both violations. A family member drove Schofield and a passenger from the scene, and the car was towed.
Narragansett Man Cited for Suspended License
Russell A. Dasta, 43, of 15 Fifth Ave., Narragansett, was cited at about 5:57 p.m. on June 27 and charged with driving with a suspended license.
According to police, an officer monitoring traffic at the Bonnet Shores Shell station saw a black Chevy Silverado run a red light. A traffic stop was made near Mettatuxet Road.
Police said a background check of the driver – Dasta – revealed that his license was suspended for failing to appear at a court hearing on May 16 for a speeding ticket issued on Feb. 1. He was cited for the suspended license and for running the red light, and a passenger in the truck drove it from the scene.
