Narragansett Police Log: June 28 and 29, 2012
Another dog bite, plus a traffic stop leads to a marijuana arrest and an alcohol citation.

Traffic Stop Leads to Marijuana Arrest, Alcohol Citation
Police said a traffic stop at about 2:06 a.m. on June 29 led to an arrest and a citation for two men.

- Luis E. Mejia, 18, of 22 Deborah St., Providence, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
- Diego Antelo, 20, of 654 Plainfield St., Providence, was cited and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor.
According to police, an officer traveling behind a silver Toyota Sienna on Burnside Avenue noted that it had a defective rear plate light and a defective brake light. A traffic stop was made on Burnside Avenue near Jamestown Boulevard.
Police said the car smelled of marijuana, and when the driver – Antelo – was asked about the smell, he told officers that his friends had been smoking at the beach.

Based on this statement, police said they searched the car, and found several Corona beers and a 750 mL bottle of 1800 tequila. Police also found a black backpack with a small baggie of marijuana in it, which they said a passenger – Mejia – claimed was his.
Police arrested Mejia as a result and charged him with possession of marijuana. Antelo was cited for transportation of alcohol by a minor and allowed to drive from the scene.
Block Island Man Cited for Suspended License While on Way to District Court
Robert H. Boutin, 38, of 1434 Beacon Hill Road, Block Island, was cited at about 9:11 a.m. on June 28 and charged with driving with a suspended license.
According to police, an officer monitoring traffic on Point Judith Road near Manning Drive saw a car drive through a red light. A traffic stop was made near Sunset Farm.
Police said the driver – Boutin – told them he thought his license was suspended, and he was on his way to Fourth Division District Court to fix the situation.
Police said a background check confirmed that Boutin’s license was suspended, and he was cited for driving with a suspended license. He was transported to district court by police, and his car was towed.
Attleboro Man Arrested on Warrant for Felony Drug Charges
Sean P. Allard, 25, of 21 Arline Drive, Attleboro, MA, was arrested at about 9:34 a.m. on June 29. Narragansett police said a Pawtucket police warrant was out for his arrest on charges of felony drug distribution and felony conspiracy.
According to police, an officer observing traffic near Jerry’s Hardware saw Allard driving without a seatbelt. A traffic stop was made near Sunset Farms on Point Judith Road.
Police said a background check of Allard revealed the warrant. He was arrested without incident and held until a Pawtucket police officer picked him up at 11:45 a.m. Allard was also cited for not wearing a seat belt.
Bad Dog!
According to police, the owner of a 3.5 pound labradoodle was cited because the animal bit a UPS man.
According to the UPS man, while attempting to deliver a package to a home on Canonchet Way, the dog bit him. He reported the bite to his supervisors and was treated at an area hospital. He told police that the owner of the dog was not home when it bit him.
Police said they explained the situation to the dog owner, who provided them with documentation proving that the dog was up to date on its shots. The owner was cited, but allowed to keep the dog.
