Narragansett-SK Schools Rank on Low End of Absenteeism Study
A Channel 12 study of school absenteeism found that both Narragansett and South Kingstown had some of the lowest rates in Rhode Island.

Narragansett and South Kingstown schools fell on the lower end of the scale in what the state Department of Education terms "chronic absenteeism," meaning students who miss more than 18 days of the school year.
WPRI Channel 12 recently reported that 17 percent of all students in Rhode Island were classified as chronically absent during the 2011-12 school year, with four Providence high schools reporting more than 50 percent of students on the list.

Locally, South Kingstown High School recorded 22.43 percent chronic absenteeism followed by Narragansett High School with 15.48 percent.
All elementary schools in both towns had fewer than 10 percent of their students in the chronically absent category - Narragansett Pier Middle School (9.83), Broad Rock Middle School (9.34), Curtis Corner Middle School (8.29), Narragansett Elementary School (6.01), West Kingston Elementary School (5.38), Wakefield Elementary School (4.89), Peace Dale Elementary School (4.59), and Matunuck School (2.73). No data was recorded for Hazard School in South Kingstown.
