Narragansett Town Beach Reopened to Swimming

Narragansett is one of three town beaches reopened for swimming Friday by the Dept. of Health.

The Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH) announced Friday the reopening of Narragansett Town Beach, as well as North Kingstown Town Beach and Barrington Town Beach to swimming.

Narragansett Town Beach was one of five RI beaches deemed unsuitable for swimming on Tuesday due to high bacteria counts.

The following beaches remain closed to swimming due to unsafe bacteria levels: Oakland Beach, City Park Beach, Conimicut Point Beach and Goddard Park Beach in Warwick, as well as Fort Adams State Park Beach in Newport.

Officials will make a recommendation regarding suitability for swimming at these beaches when the areas are determined to be safe.

NOTE: Beach statuses may change on a daily basis. For up-to-date information about swimming at Rhode Island beaches, call (401) 222-2751 or visit www.health.ri.gov/beaches to use HEALTH’s interactive beach map.
