Police said he told them that he had been fishing there with his brother Michael and their friend Matthew Lacroix, and that Michael had fallen in and gotten swept away by the current. Lacroix had gone in after him.
According to police, heavy fog hindered the rescue efforts. Police found that Lacroix had managed to pull himself on to the shore, but they heard Michael Calabro yelling from about 50 to 75 yards away in the river.
