Raimondo Touts February Jobs Report

The governor says the 498,900 jobs, which the labor department counted in Rhode Island in February, represent "the most ever."

PROVIDENCE, RI—Rhode Island's unemployment rate remained at 4.5 percent, according to the February jobs report. The rate is the same as last month and the same as a year ago but higher than the U.S. unemployment rate of 4.1 percent. Gov. Gina Raimondo said "more Rhode Islanders are working today than at any other time in the last decade." She also said the numbers indicate her "approach is working" but added there is more work to do.

The report counted 25,300 unemployed (defined as people available for work and actively looking). That number was up by 100 from January and by 400 from a year ago.
