Rhode Island Could See Up To 6 Inches Of Snow This Week
After a shift in the forecast left the ground bare to start the week, there's another storm in the forecast, and this one could be a doozy.

RHODE ISLAND — Snow has been hard to come by in Little Rhody this winter, even when the forecasts hint at a possibility of the white stuff.
This Friday's forecast feels a bit different, with forecasters indicating a high probability of a plowable amount of snow — the first such snowfall of the year for most of the state.
AccuWeather is saying Rhode Island could see 3 to 6 inches — with the potential for more. The snow may arrive around 7 a.m. Friday.

"Boston has a higher likelihood of experiencing winter weather when compared to I-95 cities farther to the south," AccuWeather said. "Cold air may try to hold on longer and allow snow to fall at the beginning and end of the storm, rather than for precipitation to mostly come in the form of rain Friday."
While there wasn't a specific forecast for Providence, it's likely that Rhode Island will see similar snow totals to the Boston metro area.

Other than that forecast, there aren't many details as to when or how much snow will fall, other than the National Weather Service saying it could be "heavy at times" in the region on Friday morning.
The entire state continues to be well behind its average snowfall for early January, but it should make up some ground by the weekend.
Here's a look at the latest Rhode Island forecast from the National Weather Service.
