NEWPORT, RI — The prediction for yet another nor'easter next week is still valid. The National Weather Service is warning about heavy snow for the first days of spring. But it's early yet, and other forecasters say it could wind up being rain.
Here is how the National Weather Service sees the extended forecast. Some spots could collect 18 inches.
The frontal system is expected to move northeastward toward the end of the 3-7 day period, along the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. High winds are expected for the Great Lakes region for Mar 20. Precipitation over parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast from the frontal passage are likely to fall as heavy snow, Mar 20-22. Localized totals up to 6" per 24 hrs are likely.
