SK #1 According to GoLocalProv; Gansett #22

In the annual ranking of Rhode Island cities and towns by GoLocalProv, South Kingstown is No. 1, thanks to a re-ranking of the system priorities.

Narragansett is No. 22, up one spot from last year.

From their write-up: “What's working here, besides an ever-growing university culture courtesy of URI? How about 10 miles of unspoiled beaches, historic villages, nearly a third of the town's land preserved as open space, plus high test scores, lower taxes, and a strong arts & culture quotient? That's pretty much everything you want in a town. Plus, piping plovers.”

The rest of the top ten, in order: East Greenwich, Providence, Warwick, North Kingstown, Hopkinton, Barrington, Portsmouth, Richmond and Glocester.

Elsewhere in South / Washington County, Jamestown ranks No. 12, Exeter ranks No. 16, Charlestown is 19 and Westerly is 24. New Shoreham / Block Island is the lowest ranked, at No. 36 of 39 ranked places.
