SK Police Log: August 5, 2012

A Massachusetts man is charged with drunken driving by South Kingstown police.

Massachusetts Man Charged With Drunken Driving

John M. Collins, 41, of 112 Orchard Road, East Longmeadow, MA, was arrested at about 2:36 a.m. on Aug. 5 and charged with drunken driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

According to police, an officer traveling on Ministerial Road near Broad Hill Way saw a Toyota Tacoma driven by Collins swerving. A traffic stop was made shortly after passing the Tuckertown Fire Department.

Police said that Collins smelled of alcohol. Police said that Collins refused to consent to field sobriety tests, at which point he was arrested and charged with drunken driving.

According to police, Collins was processed without incident, although he refused to submit to a chemical test at headquarters. He was held for arraignment the morning of Aug. 5.

Connecticut Man Charged With License Violation

Anthony L. Hicks, 34, of 1 Jessica Lane, Ledyard, CT, was arrested at about 12:40 a.m. on Aug. 5 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer driving on South Road saw a silver Dodge Durango driving with a flat tire. A traffic stop was made as a result.

Police said that a background check of the driver – Hicks – revealed that his license was suspended. He was arrested without incident. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Hicks was processed at headquarters and then released at about 1:55 a.m.

Woonsocket Man Arrested for Warrant

Michael E. Ethier, 35, of 84 Rebekah St., Woonsocket, was arrested at about 1:37 a.m. on Aug. 5. Police said a Sixth Division District Court warrant was out for his arrest.

According to police, a traffic stop was made on Tower Hill Road for speeding. A background check revealed that the driver – Ethier – had a warrant out for his arrest. He was held for arraignment that morning.
