Residents Have No Idea Where Stolen Sign From

South Kingstown Man Charged With Domestic Offenses

Louis C. Northup III, 21, of 910 Curtis Corner Road, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 9:23 a.m. on Feb. 12 and charged with domestic disorderly conduct and domestic refusal to relinquish a telephone.

According to police, they received a report of a disturbance at a home on Curtis Corner Road between Northup and a family member, but the call was disconnected midway through. The family member then called police again, and said that Northup had disconnected the phone.

Police said that based on interviewing both parties, Northup became upset when the family member refused to bring him a cell phone charger. Police said Northup struggled while being arrested, and repeatedly told the family member to “shut the **** up” about the incident.

According to police, Northup was processed at headquarters and then brought to Fourth Division District Court for arraignment at about 11:30 a.m.

South Kingstown Man Cited for Alcohol…

Joshua Thomas Cooke, 20, of 3706 Kingstown Road, South Kingstown, was cited at about 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 12 and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.

According to police, while serving a search warrant at 155 Old North Road, Cooke was found on a couch, drinking from a can of Miller High Life beer. A background check confirmed that he was under 21, and he was cited for the alcohol.

… And About That Warrant

Police said that based on a statement from a South Kingstown man, they investigated 155 Old North Road as possible harboring stolen goods from a breaking and entering case at Absolute Market.

According to police, before obtaining the warrant, they went to the home at about 11:30 a.m. in an attempt to talk to the residents. Police said no one answered knocks at the door, but the door was slightly ajar, revealing a street sign that was South Kingstown property.

Police said that based on their observances, a search warrant was obtained for the home. During the search, Cooke (see previous item) was cited.

However, police said no other stolen goods were recovered from the home. They added that the home’s inhabitants – a 50-year-old woman, a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy – refused to answer questions, smirking and answering, “I don’t know,” when asked about how the sign got in the home.

According to police, the breaking and entering case remains open.
