According to police, they received a report of a traffic accident at the Ocean Mist. Police said that when they responded, there was a Jeep in the west lane of Matunuck Beach Road with its front passenger tire torn off, and three nearby parked vehicles showed signs of being hit by the Jeep.
Police said that Westcott immediately admitted fault in the accident, and asked for police to arrest him. Police said he smelled strongly of alcohol, and told them that his license was suspended, which a background check confirmed.

According to police, Westcott refused to submit to field sobriety tests and instead said, “Just arrest me.” Police complied, and charged him with drunken driving.
Police said Westcott refused to submit to a chemical test at headquarters. He was processed and then released at about 6:50 p.m.
Massachusetts Woman Cited for Alcohol Violation
Lea E. Meli, 20, of 135 Winter St., Mansfield, MA, was cited at about 8:14 p.m. on Feb. 1 and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor.
According to police, officers monitoring traffic at Wakefield Liquors noted a young woman placing alcohol into the trunk of a black Saturn. Police said the registered owner of the car – Meli – was underage, so a traffic stop was made at CVS.
Police said they confirmed Meli’s age and identity during the traffic stop, and confiscated the alcohol, as well as a fake ID from a passenger, 19-year-old Amanda M. Bucci of 102 Palmer Drive in North Providence. Meli was cited on scene and then released.
