SK Police Log: July 25 and 26, 2012

Police make several domestic and assault arrests in a two-day span.

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the South Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

South Kingstown Man Charged with Domestic Offenses

Christopher Hazard, 19, of 4 Paddy Hill Road, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 1:17 a.m. on July 26 and charged with domestic assault, domestic disorderly conduct and domestic vandalism.

According to police, they received a report of a man – later identified as Hazard – destroying items at a Paddy Hill Road home. Police said multiple witnesses said Hazard slapped one woman across the face, and then began throwing objects in the house, and punching glass doors and windows.

Hazard was arrested without incident. Police said that based on interviews, Hazard went into a rage after he thought other people at a bonfire were talking ill of him.

Wakefield Man Charged With Assault Against Minors at Old Mountain Lanes

Charles A. Schultz, 56, of 8 North Road, Wakefield, was arrested at about 3:30 p.m. on July 26 and charged with assault.

Police narratives were not included with Schultz’s arrest.

According to the basic info sheet, the arrest occurred outside Old Mountain Lanes, and the victims were identified as a 12-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy. Two employees of Old Mountain Lanes provided witnesses statements, as did a third person.

Cumberland Man Charged With Shoving Girlfriend Out Car

Scott Michael Strom, 25, of 300 High St., Cumberland, was arrested at about 2:22 p.m. on July 26 and charged with domestic assault.

According to police, Strom responded to headquarters because of a warrant issued based on an event on July 25.

On that night, the victim told police that while arguing with Strom, she threatened to leave him and the car. He responded by hitting her head against the dashboard, and then when they continued to argue, he shoved her out of the car while it was stopped.

Police said that the argument started because Strom had to pick the victim up from Narragansett earlier in the day. Police in that town had prevented her from driving home because she was allegedly intoxicated.

Ohio Man Charged with Suspended License Violation

Thomas K. Corrin, 42, of 169 Everhard Road, North Canton, OH, was arrested at about 5:05 p.m. on July 25 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer traveling on Kingstown Road near East Farm clocked a car driving 43 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was made at South Bay Manor.

Police said a background check of the driver – Corrin – revealed that his license was suspended. Police noted that he was cooperative and arrested without incident.

Corrin was transported to headquarters for processing and then released at about 5:39 p.m.

South Kingstown Teen Charged With Driving Without License

Johnathan P. Borges, 18, of 364 Curtis Corner Road, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 10:15 p.m. on July 26 and charged with driving without a license.

According to police, an officer traveling on Curtis Corner Road noted that the plate for a Plymouth Neon did not match its computer database registration information. A traffic stop was made at Borges’ address.

Borges, the driver, told police that he did not have a driver’s license, only an ID card. A background check confirmed this and he was arrested without incident. Police noted that the car did have a proper bill of sale, and it was a recent transaction.
