SK Police Log: July 29, 2012

A Charlestown man is charged with drunken driving, and police break up a party and charge the teen host.

Charlestown Man Charged With Drunken Driving

Corey S. Allen, 32, of 420 Pond Shore, Charlestown, was arrested at about 1:59 p.m. on July 29 and charged with drunken driving.

According to police, an officer monitoring traffic near the New Life Assembly Church on Post Road clocked a car driving at 45 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was made at Route 1 near Congdon Drive.

Police said that Allen smelled of alcohol and had trouble answering simple questions, mumbling responses. He refused to take field sobriety tests, and as a result, he was arrested and charged with drunken driving. He was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test, and for speeding.

South Kingstown Teen Charged After House Party

William Dillingham, 19, of 209 Woodruff Ave., South Kingstown, was cited at about 1:30 a.m. on July 29 and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor and providing alcohol for minors.

According to police, they received a loud party complaint about a home on Woodruff Avenue. Police said when they investigated, they found about 10 kids at the home, ranging in age from 15 to 20.

Police said that Dillingham was the party host, and the home was owned by a relative. They noted that the floors were sticky with beer and other alcohol, and there were bottles and signs of beer pong throughout the house.

According to police, a search of the house also revealed marijuana, which was confiscated and destroyed. Dillingham was charged for the alcohol violations, and police notified the parents of several minors, who arranged to pick up their children.
