According to police, two officers were in an unmarked car in the CVS parking lot on July 2 when Sweet parked a car behind them. Police said they were familiar with him from past contacts, and confirmed with a dispatcher that he did not have a license.
At the time, however, the officers were on their way to serve a search warrant. Sweet wasn’t arrested at the time. Officers noted that as he left, he yelled at a group of kids, “Yo, let’s go smoke up.”

Police said they called the registered owner of the vehicle on July 5, who said that a family member was dating Sweet and that he did not have permission to drive her car.
Sweet was already in police custody by that point because he had been arrested following a party at about 2:56 a.m. on July 5. Police said that a 21-year-old woman called them and complained that Sweet was shoving partygoers.
Police said that when they arrived on scene, Sweet ran into the woods. He temporarily evaded police, but was later arrested while trying to run back out of the woods.
He was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct at this time, and later charged with driving without a license after police talked to the car owner from the previous incident.
