Pawtucket Man Charged With Reckless Driving
Marc W. Soullier, 28, of 33 Appleton Ave., Pawtucket was cited at about 9:15 a.m. on June 23 and charged with reckless driving.
According to police, an officer driving west on Saugatucket Road clocked a black sedan traveling at 69 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. Police said that despite immediately turning on emergency lights, the car did not stop, and seemed to speed up.
Police said that Soullier finally yielded after being followed a short distance by police to the BP gas station. When asked why he had tried to evade police, he allegedly said that he didn’t know, and that he had just made a bad choice.
A background check revealed only one prior driving violation, a speeding ticket in 2009. As a result, he was cited for reckless driving, speeding, obedience to police signals and driving the wrong way on a laned roadway. However, he was allowed to drive from the scene.
Peacedale Man Arrested on Warrant; Kids in Car With No Car Seat, Seatbelts
Carl Michael Pierson, 19, of 267 Church St., Peacedale, was arrested at about 2:27 p.m. on June 23. Police said a Fourth Division District Court warrant was out for Pierson’s arrest for failing to appear at a court hearing.
According to police, an officer noted that passengers in Pierson’s car were not wearing seat belts. As a result, a traffic stop was made on Kingstown Road.
Police said that during the stop, they noted that there were four passengers in the back of the vehicle, which only had three seats. Police said one of the passengers was a 3-year-old without a child seat, and none of the four passengers in the back had seatbelts.
Pierson was cited for four seatbelt violations, and a background check revealed the warrant. He was arrested without incident, processed and released at about 5:25 p.m.
