SK Police Log: October 18, 19 and 20, 2012

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the South Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Warwick Woman Charged With Drunken Driving

Lori A. Currier, 39, of 199 West Shore Road, Warwick, was arrested at about 11:16 p.m. on Oct. 20 and charged with drunken driving.

According to police, an officer noted a silver SUV driven by Currier swerving on Route 1, and changing lanes without using a turn signal. A traffic stop was made on the Salt Pond overpass on Route 1.

Police said they had to knock on the window of Currier’s SUV to get her to lower it, and they said Currier seemed surprised. When they asked her where she was going, Currier told police Warwick twice, despite being on Route 1 South.

According to police, Currier consented to field sobriety tests, which she failed. At this point, she was arrested.

Police said Currier consented to chemical breath tests at headquarters. Police said the tests revealed a blood alcohol level of .235 at about 12:43 a.m. and .230 at about 12:45 a.m.

According to police, Currier was processed and then released at about 2:05 a.m.

Citations for Possession of an Alcohol Beverage by an Underage Person

- Joel Minaya, 20, of 63 Gesler St., Apt. #11, Providence, and Taylor A. Britto, 20, of 75 Enfield Ave., Providence, were cited at about 1:10 a.m. on Oct. 19 and charged with possession of an alcoholic beverage by an underage person. According to online records, both are students at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, officers spotted Britto and Minaya with Solo cups near Gorham Hall. The cups had alcohol in them, and both were cited.

- Michael P. Mainelli, 20, of 63 Timber Trail, South Windsor, CT, was cited at about 2:16 a.m. on Oct. 19 and charged with possession of an alcoholic beverage by an underage person. According to online records, Mainelli is a student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, an officer on foot patrol near the Cumberland Farms in the URI Emporium saw Mainelli with a 12-ounce can of Keystone Light. A background check revealed he wasn’t 21, and he was cited for the alcohol.
