Snow Now Expected Thursday Morning

The forecast for a quick developing nor’easter continues to change, as the National Weather Service has published a minor change in the timing of the storm.

The storm is now projected to start in the Narragansett and South Kingstown area around 1 a.m. Thursday. On Tuesday afternoon, the storm was expected to start in Rhode Island around Wednesday night.

Snow accumulations are expected to be around four to eight inches in most of Rhode Island. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour are forecasted, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour.

Travel is expected to be most difficult on Thursday night and during the Friday morning commute.

The National Weather Service also warns that the information is still developing about the storm! Therefore, don’t be surprised if the forecast is modified up or down at some point. Their latest update is from 4:54 a.m. Wednesday.

As usual, we will update as needed depending on the severity and timing of the storm. Right now, we still plan on being at the girls’ basketball semifinals at Rhode Island College for 6 p.m., but obviously we will be monitoring the RIIL in case there is a last minute change or cancellation.
