South Kingstown Police Charge One With Assault, Drug Offense

Joseph Young, 31, of South Kingstown, was initially arrested on a warrant charging him with an assault, police said.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI—A July 24 assault that allegedly happened in a Main Street apartment led police to charge Joseph Young, 31, of South Kingstown. He was initially arrested Friday at 2 p.m. on a warrant for that assault, police said. According to the police, they'd had a tip Youngplanned to sell narcotics around Perry Avenue. When officers spotted him in his car parked on Perry Avenue, they arrested him. They also requested a drug-sniffing K-9 from the Narragansett Police Department. The dog indicated a hit for narcotics. Police said they searched Young and found some crack. He also was carrying $2,270 cash in his pants pocket, police allege.

Young was also charged with a felony count of Possession with Intent to Deliver Crack Cocaine.
