Wanted For Rape In Alabama: RI State Police Nab Fugitive
Narragansett police realized a tree company worker was a fugitive after investigating a complaint about branches dropped on a car.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — Allen Dalton Johnson, 23, was arrested Monday in Exeter after Narragansett police discovered he was wanted for first-degree rape in Alabama. According to Rhode Island State Police, Johnson, of Roanoke, Alabama, was working in Rhode Island on storm cleanup. He had taken a job with the Davey Tree Expert Company in Exeter and was living at a hotel in Warwick.
The Narragansett police came across him March 5 after a motorist complained about tree crews working at the corner of West Moreland and Walnut streets. The driver told police one of the tree limbs fell on his car. Police identified Johnson as one of the tree workers but then found out about an outstanding warrant on a charge of first-degree rape from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office in Wedowee. They contacted state police.
The Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Johnson on the job in Exeter. He is accused of being a fugitive from justice, state police said, and is expected to be held pending extradition to Alabama.
