WRESTLING: Millen, Moroski Top Locals at JV States

The freshmen wrestlers both placed in their respective weight classes this past weekend.

Freshmen Alexander Millen and Christian Moroski both earned plaudits this past weekend, after they finished first and second in their respective weight classes at the Rhode Island high school wrestling freshman and junior varsity state meet.

Millen won the title at 220 pounds with a pin of Barrington’s Quinn Morvillo in 3:32. Moroski took second at 195, after being pinned by South Kingstown’s Jake Pare after 43 seconds in the final.

Also competing for Narragansett were freshman John Cook at 138 and sophomore Sam Kershaw at 138.

The Division II tournament starts 5 p.m. Friday at Smithfield High School. It continues at 10 a.m. Saturday. The state wrestling tournament is Feb. 24 at the Providence Career and Technical Academy, followed by the New England Wrestling Championship on March 2.
