Your Guide: Courthouse Center Gallery Opening and Concert

Everything you need to know to enjoy a specific local weekend event!

At 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, the Courthouse Center for the Arts (CCA), located at 2481 Kingstown Road in West Kingston, will celebrate the opening of four new artists at its monthly Gallery Opening.

November's featured artists are Photographers Watt Casey Jr. and Mark Oltedale, Painter Christopher Flanagan and Musician Mark Cutler.

In addition, a concert by Mark Cutler and his band Men of Great Courage will take place in the theater at 8 p.m. Concert admission is $12 per person, gallery admission is free.
The CCA is a registered not for profit organization with a mission to open its doors and provide a home for the arts, in all forms. Not only are the Center's featured artists unique, but the Center is itself. Located in one of South County's most beautiful and historic buildings, the granite structure was the former home of the Washington County Courthouse; complete with jail cells and all.

While live theater was the mainstay at CCA over the past few years, efforts have since been refocused and reorganized to be inclusive of all. The CCA gallery space is quickly filling with artists and the educational programs are in bloom with instruction for music, theater and visual arts beginning Jan. 15, 2014.

November marks the Center's 25 year in the RI arts community in November.

"It's been a long and sometimes indirect path to our goals, but, we are attaining them with new laser focus," read a statement from the Center's staff.
