Beechwood Community Center Receives Award of Excellence from Plum Beach Garden Club
The Beechwood Community Center (BCC) has been honored with an Award of Excellence from the Plum Beach Garden Club (PBGC) for its welcoming raised flower bed. Club President Kathleen Romeo presented the award to the Center’s Director Marie Marcotte and Assistant Director Erin McAndrew. An array of seasonal flowers and rosebushes create an eye-catching border for the Center’s outdoor seating area which also takes full advantage of the view of Narragansett Bay beyond.
Volunteers Dianne Izzo, Sue Hazard and Linda Sollitto maintain the installation, an appealing mixture of colors and textures that includes lantana, flowering vinca, marigolds, bacopa, wave petunias, zinnia, columbine, wax begonias and roses.
“This colorful patio border is a welcome addition to the many ways Beechwood Community Center enhances the social, recreational and educational opportunities for the community's older adults and their families,” said Romeo. “Their effort is definitely worthy of this award.”
