Girl Scouts Honor North Kingstown Woman For 65 Years Of Service

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — The Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England (GSSNE) honored a North Kingstown woman with a new award to honor her 65 years of service to the organization.

On May 4, the local Girl Scouts honored local volunteers at the GSSNE Annual Meeting, recognizing adult volunteers who make extraordinary contributions to the organization. Nancy Armstrong was honored with the new GSSNE Hall of Famer Award this year.

Girl Scout volunteers said the award was created to recognize a lifetime of commitment to Girl Scouts in the region. The recipient has supported GSSNE in various ways, including volunteering at programmatic and governance levels.

Armstrong has been a member of GSSNE for 65 years. Local scout volunteers said Armstrong approaches all things Girl Scouts with great wisdom and attention to detail. She also helps with finance, audit, and investment support.

"Her wisdom and advice are beyond compare," a spokesperson for GSSNE said. "She truly listens. She makes commitments and keeps them because of her true love and passion for the work. She’s rarely seen outside of uniform! She believes and lives the mission."
