Investigation Continues Into Accident At Senesco Marine
Crews knocked down a fire at Senesco Marine at Quonset. Two injured workers were in stable condition Friday morning.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—Two workers are in stable condition Friday morning at Rhode Island Hospital following an explosion and fire aboard a vessel at Senesco Marine, according to North Kingstown police Capt. Paul Barry.
Capt. Barry said the accident happened Thursday afternoon while the workers were welding on top of a barge.
"A flashback caused an explosion," he said. "Debris from that explosion struck a propane tank causing a secondary explosion."

The accident happened on a fuel barge, according to Coast Guard Petty Ofc. Sean McGinnis. McGinnis said it wasn't clear if the barge had ever been in the water. The barge was under construction, North Kingstown Fire Chief Scott Kettelle confirmed.
"The explosion burned one worker seriously and threw the other" across the hold, he indicated. The man who was thrown suffered a serious leg injury, in addition to his other injuries.
