Providence Firefighters Rescue Man From Collapsed Building Christmas Day.

The 36-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries, the fire chief said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Firefighters rescued a man from a collapsed building Christmas Day.

The 36-year-old man was trapped in a vacant mill on Manton Avenue near Chaffee Street that partially collapsed Christmas morning, Providence Fire Chief Derek Silva posted to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

"Person has been extricated and transported to (Rhode Island Hospital) with serious injuries," Silva tweeted at 10:18 a.m. Thursday.

"Firefighters will be clearing the scene and turning it over to Dept. of Inspections and Standards," Silva tweeted.
