North Kingstown Enacting Parking Ban Ahead Of Winter Storm

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — In preparation for Friday's winter storm, North Kingstown police will issue an on-street parking ban.

The town's parking ban will go into effect at 8 p.m, Thursday and will continue until 5 p.m., Friday.

During parking bans, all vehicles must be moved off of public streets to driveways or other off-street parking, or face their cars being towed.

Snow is expected to arrive overnight, between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. It is expected to change over from all snow to wintry mix Friday morning, between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. in the southern half of the state, and between 9 a.m. and noon in the northern half of the state.

A winter storm watch will be in place statewide all day Friday, with periods of heavy snow likely, especially earlier in the day. Hazardous road conditions will be likely, with a flash freeze possible in the later afternoon to evening.

When all is said and done, Rhode Island is expected to see between two and eight inches of snow accumulation, with the snowfall amount highest at the top of the state and lower headed further south. The National Weather Service said there is still a lot of uncertainty about these numbers, however, so all of Rhode Island could see different snow totals.
