Nearly 12 years ago, Perry was also taken into custody. That time, he was charged with the robbery of a deliveryman from a Providence pizza place.

Perry, who was 18 at the time, and 22-year-old Joshua Carey of Cranston lured the deliveryman to a home in Johnston.

Johnston police said at the time that the "the pizza man said the order, placed on Nov. 10, specified that the deliveryman have change for a $100 (bill), which should have aroused suspicions. Nevertheless, the pizza man made sure he had the cash before he arrived at" the residence.

The supposed customer met the deliveryman at the front steps but claimed he did not have his wallet, police said, at which time a second man appeared from behind a minivan.

The pair "argued about who was going to pay before" one of the men "went inside the house and returned holding and aiming a rifle and said, 'Give us the money and the pizzas now!'"

Perry was charged with first-degree robbery, carrying a firearm and conspiracy. He pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and conspiracy and received a suspended sentence, which he violated.

Carey also pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and conspiracy. He violated his suspended sentence as well.

Perry was charged with the indecent solicitation of a child, electronically disseminating indecent material to minors, felony assault, driving without the consent of the owner, eluding law enforcement, assault of a police officer resisting arrest, obstruction of a police officer, duty to stop in an accident resulting in property damage and driving with a suspended license in connection with the Friday night incident.

A parole violation hearing for his robbery case was scheduled for Aug. 18.
