Plum Beach Garden Club has been awarded a $1,500 legislative grant from the state of Rhode Island. Representative Robert Craven sponsored the grant and was on hand to congratulate PBGC President Kathleen Romeo (right) and club Treasurer Barbara Dawson (left). The grant will help defray maintenance costs for the three Blue Star Memorial Islands, considered the “Gateway to Wickford Village,” at the intersection of West Main Street and Route1. These national award-winning traffic islands are just one of the club’s many community beautification projects intended to enrich the lives of residents and the enjoyment of visitors to Wickford Village.

Blue Star Memorial markers are part of a nationwide network of thousands of locations throughout the USA honoring the Armed Forces of America, past and present … a program started by National Garden Clubs after WWII.
