NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — While we were all inside watching the Super Bowl Sunday night, a winter storm hit North Kingstown and the rest of Rhode Island, and it ended up being surprisingly potent as it moved across the state.

Most forecasts called for 6 inches of snow at most, but most Rhode Island communities, including North Kingstown, far exceeded that. According to the National Weather Service, North Kingstown got 7.2 inches of snow.

Greenville got the most snow in Rhode Island with 10.8 inches.

Unless there's a drastic change, this could be the last significant snowfall for a while. The weekly forecast from the National Weather Service shows a gradual warming trend toward Presidents' Day Weekend — with a return to a high of 55 degrees on Thursday, and temperatures staying well above freezing after.
