Stony Lane Students Deliver Bread, Mittens and Kindness
Students at the North Kingstown elementary school are putting the school's "Acts of Kindness" initiative in action this holiday season.
As the world seems darker and more troubling than ever, a group of fourth and fifth-grade students at Stony Lane Elementary School in North Kingstown are shining a light of love and compassion this holiday season.
The students, who are studying community awareness and the true meaning of kindness as part of a school-wide initiative, went on a recent field trip to Providence where they delivered bread, books, hats and mittens.
They baked the bread and brought it to Amos House in Providence. Then they ventured to Carul Lauro Elementary to deliver the books and hat and mitten sets along with coats, books and school supplies.

“The experience allowed SL students to broaden and deepen their awareness of the diverse backgrounds across our state while motivating them to find ways to positively impact the RI community,” said the PTO president.
The experience is one of many “Acts of Kindness” students at the school are performing this year to take the lesson of giving and caring for others and put it into practice.
