  1. Rhode Island economy shows continued signs of recovery.
    The state's economy continues to make a strong comeback from the worst days of the coronavirus pandemic, a University of Rhode Island economics professor said Wednesday. (New Haven Register)
  2. Pawtucket man accused in fatal MA hit-and-run appears in Superior Court.
    A man accused of striking two pedestrians and leaving the scene has been indicted. Prosecutors say Thomas A. Roy, 32, was driving in North Attleboro last August when he struck Paul M. Re of South Attleboro, 62, and his girlfriend, Joy St. Hilaire, 60, of Pawtucket. Re died two days later and St. Hilaire was injured. Roy pleaded not guilty in a Fall River courtroom.   3. Mother-daughter food truck duo based in Pawtucket.
    Cara Jenness, part-owner of Plouffe's Diner, knows she can count on her daughter as the two drive around Rhode Island. A few years ago the diner, known for its meat pies, expanded with a food truck. (WJAR)
  4. New novel inspired by 'haunted' Pawtucket quarry lake.
    Tom Flanagan features Pawtucket in his first novel, “Acapulco,” set to be published this year. “Simon Banks is a paperboy whose life is turned upside down when he and his friends discover an ominous presence at an old quarry lake on the outskirts of town,” reads the book’s synopsis.   5. Should Pawtucket install portable speed bumps? Ask next door...
    Officials in Pawtucket are doing some research on neighboring North Providence’s practices related to installation of speed bumps, as both communities seek to gain some control of rampant speeding. City Councilor Tim Rudd is checking it out. (The Valley Breeze)
