Infant In Stolen Car Found Safe, Suspect At Large

A car with an infant inside was stolen from Pawtucket on Saturday. Police found the car in Providence and the baby is safe.

PAWTUCKET, RI — Rhode Island State Police and Pawtucket police on Saturday evening issued an AMBER alert after a car with a 7-month-old baby inside was stolen from a Pawtucket shopping plaza.

Saturday evening the car was found at an apartment complex at Nellie Street in Providence, less than a mile from where it was stolen at Ann Mary Plaza. Police said they were still searching for the suspect.

The AMBER alert described a 2015 Gray Toyota Avalon with Rhode Island plates. Police described the suspect as a black male with a black hoodie and ripped jeans.

It's not clear why the baby was left unattended in car. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
