PAWTUCKET, RI — Pawtucket residents who are 50 and older are now eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19, but the necessary doses probably won't arrive in the city until the week of March 15, Mayor Donald R. Grebien announced today.

People 65 years and older will continue to have priority, the mayor's office said in a media release. Residents who want the shot are being asked to fill out an online form to expedite the process and to be notified when an an eligible clinic becomes available.

“There continues to be a strong demand for vaccination from our diverse community,” said Grebien. “We are pleased to announce that we continue to work with the State through the HDC in order to get more vaccines in the arms of those in need. I urge everyone to continue to sign up on the form so that you can be contacted as soon as more vaccine is available.”

The online form, in multiple languages, will help officials create a contact list of residents who wish to be contacted by the BEAT COVID-19 team when an upcoming clinic they are eligible for is announced by the Rhode Island Department of Health, the mayor's office said.

Residents are asked to submit their name, date of birth, street address, telephone number, and email in order to be placed on the contact list. This form does not serve as pre-registration for a clinic, and residents are still told to consult the city's COVID-19 website or call the BEAT COVID-19 hotline to register for an individual clinic once they are notified that they qualify, the mayor's office said.

Submitting the form does not guarantee a spot in the next vaccination clinic and all clinics are still on a first-come-first-serve basis. The city anticipates having Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson shots available at various clinics. Those needing further assistance may reach out to the BEAT COVID-19 call line at 855-843-7620.
