Pawtucket Man Accused In Fatal MA Hit-And-Run Appears In Court

FALL RIVER, MA — A Pawtucket man accused of striking two Massachusetts pedestrians and leaving the scene of the crash has pleaded not guilty to an indictment in Bristol County Superior Court.

Prosecutors allege that Thomas A. Roy, 32, was driving a pickup truck in North Attleboro last summer when he struck 62-year-old Paul M. Re of South Attleboro and his girlfriend, Joy St. Hilaire, 60, of Pawtucket. Re was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died two days later. St. Hilaire was injured, treated at Rhode Island Hospital, and released.

According to the indictment, Roy is charged with once count of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury or death.

In a Fall River courtroom, Roy was freed on $5,000 cash bail and told to return for a pretrial hearing, the Attleboro Sun reports.

Roy was initially arraigned in Attleboro District Court in connection with the Aug. 30 crash on Adamsdale Road. Roy was arrested after police released surveillance photos of the suspected vehicle, WPRI reported at the time.
