Back To School: Portsmouth 2022-23 School Calendar

PORTSMOUTH, RI — Back-to-school planning has already begun in the Portsmouth area, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in the Portsmouth Public School District.

The first day of school students in kindergarten, grade five and grade nine is Tuesday, Aug. 30. The rest of the students will return to the classroom on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its two year-and-a-half point.

As of Tuesday, July 26, Portsmouth Public Schools has no plans to require masks in school, regardless of vaccination status.

Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

First Day: Wednesday, Aug. 30 for most grades, and the day before for kindergarten and grades five and nine

Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 23-25

Winter Break: Dec. 23-Jan.2

February Vacation: Feb. 20-24

April Vacation: April 10-April 14

High school graduation: June 9

Last Day: June 20
