Coastal Flood Advisory Issued, Rains Forecast Through

A coastal flood advisory is in effect through 11 a.m. today, Feb. 27.

A coastal flood advisory will remain in effect through 11 a.m. today, Feb. 27, as a storm surge and large swells are expected to cause flooding in Portsmouth.

The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service station out of Taunton, MA, stated a 1.5 - 2 foot surge is expected along south and southeast facing coasts during Wednesday's 8 a.m. high tide.

"A few vulnerable roads may briefly flood at the time of the morning high tide," states the advisory. "Minor erosion of exposed south and southeast facing shorelines may also occur."

NWA meteorologists expect a limited impact as some coastal areas remain vulnerable in the wake of Hurricane Sandy in October 2012 and Blizzard Nemo on Feb. 9.

Rain is expected to continue on and off through Friday, with Wednesday bearing the highest precipitation.
