Former Middletown gym teacher Patrick Aylward was found not guilty of simple assault for allegedly headbutting a 17-year-old high school female at a Portsmouth motel.
Judge Colleen Hastings said there was not proof within a reasonable doubt that the assault occurred.Â
Portsmouth police charged Aylward with domestic, simple assault after he allegedly headbutted the student at Founder's Brook Motel in Portsmouth on Feb. 17. Motel staff told Patch Aylward had rented a room at the motel many times since last fall.Â
