Lightning Flashes Across Portsmouth, East Bay

A slow-moving thunderstorm brought a light show to Portsmouth Tuesday night.

A severe thunderstorm brought quite the light show to Portsmouth Tuesday night just before 8 p.m.

Frequent lightning streaks, like the one seen in the above video, were visible on the west side of town near West Main Road and Carnegie Tower. Just before the storm got too close, I filmed the lightning streak seen above and quickly got inside.

Residents should closely monitor weather conditions. More thunderstorms are likely to develop Thursday into Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

While it's extremely unsafe and dangerous to take pictures during a thunderstorm, I understand some storm hunters live for storms like this one.
