Portsmouth High Celebrates 50th Anniversary With Homecoming

Portsmouth High School will celebrate its 50th anniversary this Saturday, starting with a Helicopter Golf Ball drop at noon at the high school football field.

Fall means hot apple cider, pumpkin picking and, of course, football.

This year's football homecoming game for Portsmouth High School is extra special, a homecoming 50 years in the making.

Portsmouth High School will celebrate its 50th anniversary at this year's homecoming game against Cranston West Saturday at the high school football field.

The game begins at 1:30 p.m.; however, you'll want to arrive early for the second annual Helicopter Golf Ball drop.

Before the homecoming game, a helicopter will drop hundreds of golf balls onto the high school football field. The golf ball closest to the pin wins! Winners do not need to be present.

Prizes are: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second, $250 for third, and $100 for the fourth to tenth place winners.

There's still time to purchase a golf ball! To purchase a ball, click the link here

Proceeds go to Portsmouth High School Football Program & Turf Field Project.

The homecoming game will also feature some special surprises in honor of the 50th anniversary.
