Portsmouth Police Arrest 8 For DUI Last Weekend
Stepped up patrols thanks to the Newport St. Patrick's Day Parade led to the arrests.

PORTSMOUTH, RI—The Portsmouth Police Department arrested eight people for driving under the influence over the weekend.
The arrests were the result of stepped up patrols partially in response to the Newport St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday next door in Newport, police said.
The arrests occurred between Friday, March 11 and Sunday, March 13.

Charged were:
Harrison A. Patuto, 21, of 1220 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Charged with driving under the influence March 11 at 10:43 a.m. Police are awaiting blood test results.

David A. Blackman, 34, of 683 Metacom Ave., Bristol, charged with driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test March 12 at 12:40 a.m.
Derek J. Mure, 28, of 7 Canonchet Drive, Portsmouth, charged with driving under the influence—second offense—and refusing a chemical test March 12 at 1:26 p.m.
Mario J. Melo, 47, of 317 Hancock St., Tiverton, charged with driving under the influence March 12 at 7:08 p.m. Melo registered blood alcohol readings of .164 and .169 in two preliminary breath tests.
Deanna B. Andrews, 24, of 143 Baker Street Apt. #3, Fall River, MA, charged with driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test March 13 at 9:41 p.m.
David M. Gibeau Jr., 29, of 276 Hamlet St., Fall River, MA charged with driving under the influence March 12 at 11:36 a.m. Gibeau registered .260 and .265 blood alcohol readings in two preliminary breath tests.
Deborah A. McGowan, 55, of 310 Old Mill Lane, Portsmouth, charged with driving under the influence March 13 at 11:56 a.m. McGowan registered blood alcohol readings of .119 and .120 in two preliminary breath tests.Â
Eric J. Barros, 29, of 50 Agricultural Ave., Rehoboth, MA charged with driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test March 13 at 1:24 a.m.
