Portsmouth Police Arrest Two Alleged Drug Dealers

The two accused, both from Providence, allegedly were selling fentanyl/heroin in the Portsmouth area.

PORTSMOUTH, RI—Two alleged drug dealers from Providence are due Tuesday in Newport District Court. They are facing charges connected to a Portsmouth Police investigation. On Monday, one of them sold narcotics to an undercover officer. Erlin Taveras was charged with delivering the drug, and Krystal Lopez was charged with conspiring to deliver drugs. Police also seized a vehicle and $900 cash.

The arrests stemmed from an ongoing investigation into people "distributing fentanyl/heroin, and introducing the drugs into the Portsmouth area," police said. The investigation started several weeks ago.
