The woman's car rolled down an embankment near Patriot Park and West Main Road. She lost control coming off the Route 24 exit ramp.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — A 21-year-old Portsmouth woman was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after she crashed her Sport Utility Vehicle near Patriot Park. Police said the accident happened around 5:30 a.m. A Statue Way resident heard the noise and reported it, police said. Officers found the driver conscious but trapped in the car. The Portsmouth Fire Department used the "Jaws of Life" to cut her free. She was taken to the hospital "as a precaution," police said.
The woman was the only person involved in the accident.
According to the accident investigation, the woman was going south on Route 24 and was on the off ramp near West Main Road when she lost control and hit a guard rail. The car rolled over and slid down the hill.
